Jan Winton has a 45-year practice in Printmaking and Painting.

Jan experiments with blended techniques, that incorporate found images, hand drawing, painting, and photography to produce images full of paradox and double meaning while illuminating the fragile nature of subjectivity, and unconscious perception.  Recent work has been focused on the isolated formal elements of colour and line.

Her training background began with book illustration, (drawing) painting and printmaking (University of Waterloo); Caulfield Institute, now part of Monash University, Melbourne Australia). Jan studied at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute, and worked for 10 years at Open Studio, Toronto: (Etching, Serigraphy, Lithography). With an extensive national and international exhibition record, she has work in over 80 private and public collections.  Jan taught as an Associate Professor  of Fine Art,( Visual Art)  at Queens University, Kingston, Ontario,

from 1988-2020.  She lives and works in Gananoque ON.
